Final Project: Mapping Term Project

The final project is a mapping term project that brings together the skills from the labs: finding data, building a workflow, running an analysis, and communicating the result with maps. It is introduced in Week 12 alongside the site-selection lectures, and the last two weeks of the semester are in-class work sessions with the instructors' help. It is due on the Saturday of Week 14 at 11:59 pm; the exact date is on Learning Suite.

Deliverable

Submit your report as a single PDF on Learning Suite. Make sure to include:

  • intermediate maps and data that show the data processing steps you went through, and
  • a final map showing your results.

Getting Started

  • Review the workflow diagrams and the site-selection-as-elimination approach from Week 12.
  • Lab 11: Walmart Site Selection is the closest model for the kind of workflow the project expects.
  • AI can help you plan a workflow and polish your writing; the QGIS work and the results must be your own. See the AI Use Policy.

Note

The full project instructions (the Mapping Term Project document) are posted on Learning Suite and will be added to this page.
